An episode from a documentary series produced by the Israel Film Service about musicians who won the Israel Prize.
Relative to a composer of his caliber, Zvi Avni began studying music relatively late – only at the age of 16. One reason for this is the fact that his father was murdered when he was a child, and he grew up in a financially struggling family. Avni’s life continued to be marked by tragedies: both his first and second wives died from cancer. However, he never lost his optimism, stating, ‘I don’t see myself as a bitter person.’
This film summarizes Avni’s diverse creative decades. Alongside him appear Assaf Levitin, Moti Shmitt, Yakov Kreizberg, Wissam Joubran, Emilie Brendsen, Brigitte Sulam Reiter, Shmuel Magen, and others.
