UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld arrives on a visit to the Middle East as part of mediation efforts between Israel and Egypt. The UN Secretary-General begins his mission in Egypt, where he meets with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Fawzi. Tension between Israel and Egypt is high after many intrusions from Egypt into Israeli territory on the southern border, Israeli soldiers are seen patrolling and the bodies of Fedayeen men lying in the field alongside ammunition. Observers of the UN examine the ammunition found at the site, and later examine the damage caused to the railway track in the section between Beer Sheva and Tel Aviv that was damaged by the operations of Fedayeen.
