The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly of Israel convenes at the National Institutions Building in Jerusalem. Among those arriving at the meeting are IDF Chief of Staff Yaakov Dori, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, President Chaim Weizmann, Moshe Dayan and others. Assembly Speaker Yosef Sprinzak addresses the members. In the streets of Jerusalem a large crowd gathers for a procession on Jaffa Street and Zion Square, where people march in the streets as they carry signs and flags celebrating the historic event.
