Two British soldiers abducted by Irgun members are released from captivity. The two soldiers, named P. C. Ward and E. P. Haskett, were kidnapped from the swimming pool Galei Gil in Ramat Gan, and were held in a house in Kiryat Shaul (near Ramat Hasharon). The released soldiers are wearing swimsuits and seem calm, as they demonstrate to the press where they were held in captivity. Nearby the location where the soldiers were held, a stockpile of explosives was found and seized by the British military, and is being exhibited to the press. The purpose of the kidnapping action was to bargain for the conversion of a death sentence into life imprisonment for Irgun members standing trial.
