A huge fire broke out in Haifa when British-owned oil storage tanks were set on fire, and black smoke covers the sky. The fire was set by Jewish underground organisations, in order to divert the attention of the British Mandate authorities from an illegal immigrant ship trying to anchor at the Haifa port. Eventually the ship San Filipo Panama encountered difficulties while at sea and contacted the British Navy. The illegal immigrants on board are seen disembarking from the ship, accompanied by British soldiers, prior to their deportation to detention camps in Cyprus.
