A promotional film produced by the Israel Film Service, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, the Jewish Agency’s Department of Immigration and Absorption, and the Municipality of Karmiel. The movie stars Mary Domkin (playing the Hebrew language teacher who settles in Karmiel), Haim Manor (playing Yoram, ), and residents of Karmiel. The film portrays a vibrant and colorful town where life is rich with opportunities. The teacher, who recently moved to Karmiel to teach Hebrew to new immigrants falls in love not only with life in the city but also with Yoram, the son of Romanian immigrants residing in the city.
The young couple roams the industrial, cultural, and social landscapes of Karmiel, revealing a city worthy of living, working, and falling in love in. They go to Moshe’s Steak House, dance in the neighborhood bar, and discuss war and peace, literature, and independence. They visit Yoram’s parents and take part in the public picnic on Independence Day. Then, as they walk through the industrial plants and leather fashion factories, the Hebrew teacher becomes a fashion model, pictured against the backdrop of the factory and its workers, and the open landscapes of Karmiel. The cinematic style combines interesting design elements such as color screens and cut-out architectural images of Karmiel’s far-reaching future development plans.
