“There are no truly ‘low-functioning’ or ‘high-functioning’ autistic people,” the film states at its opening. “There are people whose abilities are overlooked, and others whose difficulties are unseen.”
In her documentary, filmmaker Dana Dimant, mother of an autistic daughter, seeks to reveal the complexities, challenges, and beauty of life alongside people on the autism spectrum.
Through the camera she observes her daughter Tamara, sharing her fears about what the future may hold for her as an autistic person in Israel while searching for ways to help her. From this deeply personal starting point, Diment embarks on a journey to understand the many colors of the autistic spectrum. Along the way she learns not only more about her daughter, but also about herself, and how she must change her own perspective and actions.
