Robi Damelin lost her son, David, who was killed by a Palestinian sniper in Wadi Haramia whilst on military reserve duty. After requesting a meeting with the man who had murdered her son only to then be refused, Damelin heads back to her native South Africa where she sets out to explore the feasibility of prospects such as truth and reconciliation in post-Apartheid South Africa on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Damelin meets with the orchestrators of so much suffering on either side in South Africa, Israel, and the West Bank in a journey laden with sadness, pain, and hope.
The film was featured at countless festivals in Israel and round the world and went on to win multiple awards, including the Jury Prize at the A Matter of Act Competition in Holland, Best Documentary at Singapore’s Endeavours Documentary Film Festival, and the Research Award at the Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival.
