Ruth Volk’s film is an intimate portrait of the actor, director, and painter Israel Becker – and also a historical portrait of the Hebrew theater in Israel, of which Becker was one of the most prominent actors since the 1950s. Becker sits in front of the camera surrounded by his family, including his wife, actress Pnina Pearl-Becker, his son, actor Moshe Becker, and his daughter-in-law, actress Yael Pearl-Becker. He tells the story of his life from his childhood in Bialystok, through his theater studies with Shlomo Michaels in Moscow, to his arrival in Israel at the Habima Theater and the long and rich career that followed. In his final days, as he sits on the balcony of his apartment in Tel Aviv, he watches the comings and goings, and especially the members of his family.
