Avraham Gurewitz, aka ‘Avem’, works as a courier for a production company. Gurewitz is on the lower end of the autistic spectrum and does not cease to dazzle people with his talent for counting and guessing at lightning speed the number of letters in every sentence spoken at him. For years, Avem was military troupe, The Nahal Band’s mascot. He would turn up at every rehearsal and gig, knew every song back to back, and was mates with everyone in the band (including the likes of Shlomo Bar-Aba and Hanan Goldblatt – both of whom appear in the film). In 1967, Avem had a brief encounter with a girl named Ziva. The pair shared a fleeting cab ride for one hour, and he has since never stopped looking for her – but to no avail.
