Director Nissim Dayan’s crime feature is set in Israel’s infamous slums of the 1970s; a place where society’s most marginalised, destitute members lead a meagre, penniless existence. Milton Levy, a hard-living worker, finds himself in a financial bind that hurtles him into a life of crime. Now, up to his eyeballs in debt – including money owed to loan sharks and his mate, Danny, who has moved back from the US – Milton is overwhelmed by his family’s nonstop ‘moaning,’ and finds respite with Danny and his girlfriend. At their place, Danny tries to convince Milton to join him on a heist he’s plotting, promising a lifechanging windfall for the both of them, after which Milton will have settled all his debts and Danny could move back to America. However, the plan that was to be the answer to all their woes, only makes everything that much worse.
The film offers a rare opportunity to watch legendary acting teacher, Nissan Nativ, in action in the role of Jacky the agent.
