Director and filmmaker Erez Laufer embarks on a journey with his family to Bombay, India; the city that gave his father and grandmother shelter on their layover en route to Palestine, after they had fled Europe during the Holocaust. The father’s memories, who was only five when he first arrived in Bombay, are confronted with the reality of the place on his return. The film takes a wildly unexpected turn when the family find themselves in town during the harrowing 2008 terrorist attack. Interwoven with this family trip are scenes from a film Laufer had shot 20 years earlier when he was still a film student, which features his grandmother’s testimonial. The result is a film traversing present and past, memories and reality.
