Director Menachem Binetski’s short, featuring stunning black-and-white footage – shot by cinematographer Nissim Kobo, follows the story of a mother coming to visit her son at his pre-military academy in kibbutz Sha’ar HaGolan. Mother and son spend a day together, just like old times when he was a boy. They go to the swimming pool together, visit the banana plantations, and explore the trenches and dugouts. Along the way, Binestski paints a portrait of post Six-Day-War Israel. Leisure, day-to-day life, and war all intertwine, as do laughter and anxiety. Both mother and son are played by the director’s real-life mother and brother.
