Filmmaker Jacques Mory-Katmor’s experimental short is an abstract audiovisual take on the biblical tale of Isaac’s binding. The film is essentially a series of contrasting montages comprising footage of Israeli vistas (in which the land appears biblical, primal, and pristine) – shot by Katmor’s regular cinematographer, Amnon Solomon – and a collection of artworks, all focusing on the story of the binding, including Rembrandt’s timeless 1635 piece. The footage is accompanied by voiceover narration and original psychedelic rock music written by Noam Sheriff and performed by Avishay (Avi) Avivi and The Metronomes.
The film is broadcast courtesy of Kan 11.
