As the residents and homes of the old neighbourhood in the city of Hod Hasharon continue to change and march with the times, one small persistent street bench continues to hold on – an anchor of sanity and sanctuary for four elderly women: Reuma, Shula, Dalia, and Kamar – all of whom came to Israel from Yemen decades ago. At their regular meeting spot, aka ‘Parliament,’ each woman brings her own personal experiences and inner world: the triumphs and losses, the sadness and loneliness, and all frustrations, desires, and disappointments. Combined, the foursome’s stories weave a deeply human patchwork; a relic of a fast-disappearing world of four women whose stories have gone untold their whole lives, and who must now take in all the sweeping changes around them. Vigoda turns his camera at them and observes his subjects with the utmost sensitivity, curiosity, love, and compassion.
The film was featured at countless festivals in Israel and around the world, including the Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival.
