Director, Aner Preminger spent two years following artist, Zvi Lachman on camera, during which the latter was putting together an exhibition for the Ramat Gan Museum of Israeli Art. Similarly to his later film, One Eye Wide Open, which Preminger had co-directed with Ami Drozd and which also followed Lachman’s work, here too, the artist’s creative process takes centre stage – from his work at the studio, through his pieces’ journey to the exhibition space and finally, all the way to the encounter between spectator and artwork. The film features scenes which show Lachman painting his father; the unveiling of a commemorative statue in memory of Major Zvi Bentov who died in the line of duty, and the installation of his sculpture, Resting Warrior in Ahrensburg, Germany. Through interviews and analyses of Lachman’s works by spectators, critics, and intellectuals, a portrait of the artist’s personality is painted which offers viewers a glimpse of his creative sphere where he operates. The film earned a Special Mention in the Jewish Experience section at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
