Amir Manor’s debut feature film follows the final 24 hours in the lives of erstwhile pioneers, Hayuta and Berl, who helped build the State of Israel with their own two hands and who now, in old age, live in a dilapidated Tel Aviv flat. The stark poverty, frustration, and inability to adapt to an everchanging reality, and a modern Israel that has long since moved on from its idealist beginnings lead the pair to the inevitable conclusion that they must take their own lives, thereby finally giving themselves respite from their physical, emotional, and existential despair. The film toured many festivals around the world where it took home multiple awards, including four wins at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. The film’s two leads, Rivka Gur and Yosef Carmon both clinched top honours at the Jerusalem Film Festival where they each won their respective Best Actor/Actress categories.
