The Gat Archive Collection of Film Clips was filmed between 1946 and 1966 in black and white without sound, and, similar to the films of Zionist realism, presents the viewer with images of Zionist settlements and its challenges before, during, and after the War of Independence. These are multi-thematic film clips that are primarily organised chronologically as a visual diary written in real time. Yosef Tena (1912–1989), Moshe Harel (1930–2016), Yaakov Tao Yaffe (1915–1995), and Paulo Lisker, kibbutz members and amateur photographers, filmed. Still, it is not possible to associate film clips with a specific creator. However, it is known that Paulo Lisker directed and filmed the only full-length film in the collection, “Gat 1960.”
The collection has been deposited with the Israel Film Archive, which is responsible for its management, scientific preservation, and public access.
