Notable guests from the United States land at Lod Airport for the opening of the Tel Aviv Culture Palace. At the airport, the head of the delegation meets with Frederick Mann, who is the main donor of the palace. The final rehearsal of the orchestra, conducted by Leonard Bernstein, is held with an audience of special guests. On October first, the official opening event takes place in which the mayor hands the conducting baton to Bernstein. The following day, a gala concert is held for a distinguished audience, including the Prime Minister and the President. That evening, five hundred people gather in the Kiriya Garden for a reception organized by the prime minister and his wife.
