Important archaeological findings are recovered in excavations that were resumed in Jaffa, initiated by Avraham Shekhterman, Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv, in collaboration with the Government Antiquities Division, and with the assistance of the Ministry of Labor. During the excavations at HaShetach HaGadol in the center of old Jaffa. A lintel of an ancient city gate was discovered, bearing a written inscription in hieroglyphics referring to Ramses II and naming two of the five known titles of the King of Egypt. Site workers look for artifacts and an archeologist examines a pottery vessel.
