Fire is lit in by the Ghetto Heroes Monument in Warsaw on the 15th anniversary of the ghetto uprising. In Kibbutz Yad Mordechai in Israel, thousands gather for an assembly at the foot of Nathan Rapoports statue of Mordechai Anielewicz. Members of Hashomer Hatzair carry flags of the movements chapters. Minister of Health Israel Barzilai participates in the ceremony. In a rally at Kibbutz Lohamei HaGetaot, Minister of Foreign Affairs Golda Meir seats at the speakers table next to other participants. A week later, on Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers), soldiers perform foot drills in a ceremony at a military cemetery, a cantor sings, wreaths are laid, and families visit graves of fallen soldiers.
