Dozens of Egged tourist buses leave Tel Aviv. On their way to the IDFs military parade marking Israels 10th Independence Day in Jerusalem, they pass the remains of armored cars from the War of Independence, left at Shaar HaGai . A great crowd, including foreign dignitaries, gathers at the stadium in Givat Ram for the event. In a convertible escorted by cavalry, President of Israel Yitzhak Ben-Zvi arrives at the ceremony. A guard performs foot drills. Ben-Zvi sanctifies 196 new IDF unit flags. They are carried by infantry and military vehicles. and the parade begins. Tanks including 30 of the AMX-13 model circle the track. Cannons are displayed, followed by troops of different units that march in groups. Ben-Zvi, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Haim Laskov, and Chief of the Central Command Major General Meir Amit observe the parade from a stage.
