At the Lod airport, a delegation of doctors and medical personnel leave on a humanitarian aid mission in the Congo, as part of international aid efforts following the outbreak of violent riots in the country. UN forces have arrived in Congo and the Israeli delegation will join them. The delegation was initiated by the Ministry of Health and the Foreign Ministry and is made up of 16 medical personnel. Members of the medical delegation bid farewell to their families at Lod Airport, Foreign Minister Golda Meir and Minister of Health Israel Barzilai greet the delegation members, including Rafael Gjebin, Rambam hospital director and chairman of the Medical Association, and Avner Gur, chief sanitation engineer at the Health Ministry and head of the delegation.
