An official farewell ceremony is held at Lod Airport to bid farewell the prime minister David Be Gurion on his official visit to the United States. A military orchestra plays, and a large audience is assembled. Among those gathered are diplomatic personnel, government ministers and public figures, including Finance Minister Levi Eshkol, Foreign Minister Golda Meir, Minister of Health Yisrael Barzilai, Welfare Minister Yosef Burg, Minister of Education Zalman Aran, Minister of Transportation Yitzhak Ben Aharon, ambassadors and diplomatic staff of countries, IDF generals including Ezer Weizmann, US ambassador to Israel Ogden Reid and more. Prime Minister Ben Gurion is expected to give a lecture at Brandeis University on the occasion of receiving an honorary doctorate in law, and meet with US President Dwight Eisenhower.
