IDFs first submarine, INS Tanin, enters the Port of Haifa having sailed to Israel from a British shipyard. The subs crew stands on deck as Isreali Navy ships escort the new watercraft. Minister of Education and Culture Zalman Aran, Minister of Foreign Affairs Golda Meir, and Minister of Agriculture Moshe Dayan (in military uniform) watch as the submarine docks. Commander of the Israeli Navy Major-General Shmuel Tankus awards a submariner badge to the commander of the sub Lieutenant colonel Yosef Dror, which in turn confers it upon his subordinates.
