Pollution is discovered in the Alexander River (Nahal Alexander) near its estuary. Thousands of dead fish are found in the stream as a result of the pollution, and its lush vegetation over 3 km is destroyed. The Nature and Parks Authority estimates that the pollution originates from the sewage ponds of the Municipality of Netanya. The Netanya municipality denies responsibility and points to the blocking of the rivers outlet to the sea as a source of the problem. The Ministry of Health conducts an investigation.
