A collection of footage for Israels 20th Independence Day. People listen to radio broadcasts of the United Nations General Assemblys vote on the Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947, and residents dance in the streets after the resolution was adopted; Isreals declaration of independence in May 1948, the establishment of the IDF, War of Independence battles, and the 1949 Armistice Agreements that ended it; wreaths laying on fallen soldiers graves and Memorial Day ceremonies, at the end of which Speaker of the Knesset Kadish Luz opens the Independence Day celebrations in a torch ceremony; fireworks display at the opening of the holiday, and citizens dance in circles in the streets; a military parade near the Old City of Jerusalem: an aerobatic display (including Mirages, Skyhawks, MiG 21s, and helicopters), motorcycles, off-road vehicles, tanks, and infantry; a display of military equipment confiscated by Israel in the Six-Day War: Soviet tanks, Katyusha rockets, Long Tom guns, and Egyptian missiles.
