Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and his wife arrive in New York and are greeted by Mayor John Lindsay in a ceremony at City Hall. Eshkol and Lindsay exchange gifts. At the Jewish Theological Seminary Eshkol receives an honorary doctorate of Jewish Studies. At the New York International Press Club, Eshkol gives a speech on Israeli policy. He then gives a television interview. At the Plaza Hotel, the Prime Minister is visited by Robert Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and Nelson Rockefeller. At the Metropolitan Opera, Eshkol and his wife are guests of the mayor at a performance of Carmen. During the break, they speak with conductor Zubin Mehta. At a tea party held by the wife of the Israeli ambassador to the United States, important women from New York attend. Eshkol parts from US Jewry at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the presence of delegates from fifty American Jewish organizations. After visiting New York, the Prime Minister and his wife travel to Canada. In Toronto, a reception is held for them at the airport. In the provincial governors residence, they meet with the Ontario prime minister. On their way to Montreal, they visit Niagara Falls. In Montreal, they meet with the mayor and exchange gifts. They then travel by train to Ottawa, where they meet with Canadian Prime Minister Lester Peterson and other guests.
