Citizens attend political rallies towards the elections to the 5th Knesset. Members of polling place committees examine ballots and prepare the ballot box. President Yitzhak Ben-Zvi and his wife Rachel Yanait, Minister of Foreign Affairs Golda Meir, and Member of the Knesset Pinchas Lavon vote. Signs in Meah Shearim neighborhood protest against participation in the elections. Ultra-orthodox Jews and Arab residents of Kfar Kassem vote. Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Zvi Berenson and Minister of the Interior, Chaim Moshe Shapira, visit a voting booth where IDF soldiers vote. Some Israelis take advantage of the day off from work to visit the beach. Planes transport far away voters to the polls, and parties activists call potential voters. Ballots are counted, results are fed into computers. Commentators of the Kol Israel radio station analyze the results. Finally, a street sweeper sweeps ballot papers.
