Israelis stand in streets during a moment of silence on National Memorial Day. Treasury Minister Levi Eshkol attends an official ceremony at Mount Herzel and lays a flower wreath by a tomb. Soldiers light beacons during a ceremony on the eve of Independence Day. President Yitzhak Ben Zvi and Foreign Minister Golda Meir greet ambassadors and diplomats at the presidential residence. USSR Ambassador Michail Bodrov delivers a speech. Soldiers march at a military parade in Jerusalem while Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, Ben Zvi, Commander in Chief Zvi Tzur and his deputy Yitzhak Rabin review the parade. Tanks drive in the parade. Citizens drink and dance during Independence Day festivities and watch performances on stage.
