In a ceremony in Rehovot, a new president is inaugurated for the Weizmann Institute of Science: Professor Albert Sabin, who developed the oral polio vaccine. At the same ceremony, honorary membership at the Institute is awarded to Hubert Humphrey, former Vice President of the United States. Deputy Prime Minister Yigal Allon, Meyer Weisgal, the dean of Weizmann Institute, and Sabin himself deliver speeches.
