On the Independence Day of the Republic of the Congo, a reception is held at the Hotel President in Jerusalem for the Congolese embassy staff in Israel and other foreign diplomats. The event is attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Golda Meir and Michael Bodrov, the Soviet Union Ambassador to Israel and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. On the same day when the reception took place, President of the Republic of the Congo Fulbert Youlou was impeached and new government formed.
