The year is 1968. In the aftermath of the Six Day War, Israeli bus coperative “Egged” offers five-day excursions into the sinai desert. The busses first cross the northern Sinai to the Suez Canal. From here on they will aim to trace the biblical journey of the Exodus. The travelers, many of whom western tourists, get a view of the city of Suez. The journey later leads inland, on roads unpaved and hardly marked, to observe petroglyhps, explore the lives of the Bedouins, visit Saint Catherine’s monestary and and climb Mount Moussa. The narrator finds references to the Exodus in every detail.
