Tree planting on Tu BShvat in the Martyrs Forest in memory of the Holocaust victims. World War II archival footage of Holocaust trains and extermination camps. Thousands of children travel by train on their way to plant the Jewish Child Forest in memory of murdered children in Europe. Participants climb a hill and gather in the forest. A youth orchestra plays as an Israeli flag is raised on a mast. A girl reading the Yizkor prayer and a boy lights a torch. Children carry tree saplings and plant them. Afforestation nurseries of the Jewish National Fund near Eshtaol. New immigrants from surrounding transit camps sprout tree seedlings and prepare them for planting. Sprinklers water seedlings. The area designated for the establishment of the Martyrs Forest in the Judean Hills. Workers prepare the land for afforestation. Thousands of new and veteran immigrants from various communities in Europe, as well as tourists, arrive to plant the Martyrs Forest. Some participants carry signs with names of various ghettos such as Vilna, Warsaw and Lodz. Participants gather around a stage and listen to memorial prayers and speeches by Jewish National Fund members. Participants plant trees in plots bearing names of various communities that perished in the Holocaust. A section of the forest where trees have already grown. Youths clear stones. Children play near the trees.
