Palestines Rabbinate Announces a Day of Fasting and Mourning

The Rabbinate of the Land of Israel announces a day of mourning and fasting following the events of the Holocaust. The ceremony was held in the Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem. A large crowd gathers at the entrance and in the synagogue area. Chief Rabbis Ben-Zion Meir Chai Uziel and Isaac Herzog open the Holy Ark and the audience sits on the floor as a sign of mourning. Rabbi Uziel goes up to the stage and reads the declaration of the day of mourning. The congregation is leaving the synagogue.
