Director Arik Kaplun’s graduation project from Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television Studies is a Kafkaesque piece which follows the story of a tuba player who lives in a fictional country under a totalitarian regime. The tuba player tries his best to keep his head down, avoid all the violence around him, and stay out of any clashes with the law; that is until he crosses paths with a young female guerrilla fighter. The film, whose entire dialogue is in gibberish, won scores of awards at leading international film festivals, and even represented Israel at that year’s Academy Awards, competing in the Best Short Film category.
