The film offers viewers a glimpse of those Israelis who took part in the ceremony where the establishing of the State of Israel was announced, 62 years after it had taken place. Director, Avi Weissblei turns the spotlight away from the leaders and other ‘major players’ who were in attendance and instead, chooses to focus on the professionals who were at the ceremony: Violist, Zeev Steinberg; recording technician, Ralph Hellinger; Leah Axelrod – Nathan Axelrod’s widow, and a Carmel Newsreels editor and first assistant camera in her own right, and a host of other interviewees. Combined, their stories create a human patchwork that gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the event where the State of Israel became a reality.
