A decade after leaving Israel and moving to the US, Benny Ziv, aka ‘Spitz,’ is heading back home for a visit. He is one of those who ended up “living the dream” – launching a successful singing career, marrying an American, and becoming financially solid. With the help of another friend, Benny sets out to find Daniel Wax who was “top dog” back when they were in school, but who has since become an enigmatic figure, completely falling off the grid.
Their quest finally concludes when Daniel Wax resurfaces as a philosophy professor at Ben-Gurion University. The once mythical alpha male turns out to be no more than a self-involved, intellectual talking head with any and all traces of his former school legend now long gone. A brilliant cinematic parable by Avraham Heffner about the Zionist Dream and its stark reality- featuring music by Ariel Zilber.
