An excerpt from the documentary Welcome to Jerusalem- President Sadat in Israel was produced by the Israeli Film Service, showing Sadats visit to the Knesset. After taking part in the ceremony of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Knesset, Muhammad Anwar Sadat addressed the Knesset at the opening of the ceremonial Knesset session. In response to his speech, Prime Minister Menachem Begin and opposition chairman Shimon Peres made speeches reaching out for peace among the people. The speech was broadcast around the world from the reception hall of the Jerusalem Theater, which became the gathering place of the many media outlets that came to cover the event.
