A short documentary about painter Ann Medalie: born in Haseldorf, Latvia, to an Orthodox Jewish family, she immigrated to the United States in 1921. In the 1940s, she lived in Mexico for five years, and in 1948 moved to South Africa, where she became fascinated by the exotic nature. From there, she moved to Rhodesia, continuing to paint the desert. In 1951, she immigrated to Israel and settled in the Safed artist’s colony. Medalie painted mainly landscapes and still-lifes, with an emphasis on flowers, some of them incorporating elements of fantasy. She developed a unique, personal style, independent of any specific school of thought. Over the years, she exhibited worldwide and won awards. The film showcases her works, accompanied by an in-depth analysis of her artistic style.
