A short film based on two children’s songs by Kadia Molodowsky, produced by Sadot Films and the Kibbutz Movement Alliance.
The first song tells of shoes made by a shoemaker that do not fit any child except Dov, but Dov has no money to buy them, and they remain with the shoemaker. The second song tells of a shoemaker who made sandals that walk on their own and bring him food, until one day the sandals encounter a barefoot child and never return to the shoemaker’s house again. The songs were translated from Yiddish by Nathan Alterman and Fania Bergstein and published in Molodowsky’s collection of translated poems, “Open the Gate”.
