At the Weizman Institute of Science in Rehovot, 100 scientists from around the world participate in an international conference for macromolecular chemistry. Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and Meyer Weisgal, the chairman of the institutes executive, deliver speeches. The donors Michael and Anna Wix from England, whose donation financed the new auditorium where the conference takes place, are present in the event. Vera Weizmann, the widow of the first President of Israel, hugs Anna Wix on the stage during the inauguration of the new hall. Aharon Katzir, a professor at the Weizman Institute and an Israel Prize for Science laureate, gives a lecture.
