[WARNING: Violent and graphic content] In the Jordan Valley south of Jisr ed Damiye (Gesher Adam), a Fatah squad attacked an IDF post and tried to take over it. Twelve members of the Fatah squad were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the IDF, and images of their bodies lying on the road are displayed, along with ammunition and equipment. Defense Minister Moshe Dayan visits the site, accompanied by Chief of Staff Haim Bar-Lev and Commander of the Central Military District Major General Rehavam Zeevi. The soldiers who reacted in time and fought back, are reserve personnel, and one IDF soldier dies as a result. This operation of the Fatah organization against the IDF, is considered to be the most comprehensive to date, in terms of the scope and amount of weapons used. The alertness of the reserve personnel allowed a quick response, and Defense Minister Dayan praises them for their performance.
