Archive footage documents the Austrian-Israeli researcher and philosopher Martin Buber writing in his study and celebrating his birthday with students. After his death, his funeral service is held at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in presence of President of Israel Zalman Shazar, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, and ministers. Afterward, the stretcher with the body of the deceased is carried to a hearse by Speaker of the Knesset Kadish Luz, Israeli author Shmuel Yosef Agnon, President of the Hebrew University Eliahu Eilat, Shazar and Eshkol. The funeral convoy makes its wat to Har HaMenuchot cemetery.
