An illuminating look at the town of Mitzpe Ramon, not long after its incorporation. At that time, the town was yet to be served by a water pipline, and its education system served only seven children. Mitzpe Ramon of those days was something of a mining town without a mine. Only a few minor quarries existed nearby, and geologists surveyed the desert in hope of making precious discoveries. We are ushered into town by a little girl, learn of the life of the grown ups, at work and at rest, and venture to explore nearby wonders: the ancient city of Ovdat, the spring of Ain Ovdat, the presence of Bedouins and soldiers in the region and the dramatic, arid crater, Machtesh Ramon. A short film produced by the Histadrut Center for Culture and Education.
