A film produced by the Israeli Film Service and the IDF Spokesman, documenting the IDF parade on the 20th Independence Day of the State of Israel, held in Jerusalem for the first time after the city was occupied during the Six Day War. A huge crowd gathers at the parade route, which runs from the north of the city to the south on the axis of Sderot Haim Bar Lev (formerly the municipal road 1) adjacent to the Old City walls. Across of Givat HaMivtar a podium was set up, attended by President Zalman Shazar, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, Defence Minister Moshe Dayan and Chief of Staff Haim Bar-Lev. During the parade, soldiers from all IDF troops participate in the parade, and a “loot” parade is held in which a variety of military equipment of Arab armies captured by the IDF during the Six Day War is displayed to the public. A large-scale aerial demonstration of the Israeli Air Force is held in which a variety of aerobatic exercises are performed for the enjoyment of the crowd.
