A documentary film produced as part of the “Hebrews” project, which documents Hebrew poets and writers. Director Yair Qedar traces the life of poet and author Lea Goldberg through various stages of her life: her childhood during the Bolshevik Revolution, her studies in Berlin before the rise of Nazism, her blossoming as a young poet in Tel Aviv’s bohemian circles, and her days as a respected literature lecturer at the Hebrew University. The film is composed of archival footage, animation segments, and interviews with literary figures and acquaintances of Goldberg. Additionally, woven throughout are excerpts from her personal diaries and musical adaptations of her poems performed by singer Karolina. Al these elements come together to form a comprehensive portrait, allowing viewers to get to know the life story and sensitive soul of the poet for whom the Hebrew language was home.
