In the 1990s, after the fall of the Iron Curtain, a massive wave of Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union arrived in Israel. By 1997, around 700,000 Russian-speaking immigrants had settled there. To assist the newcomers, the Israeli Film Service created the explanatory film “Step by Step.” It guides immigrants through their initial experiences: landing in the Israeli airport, opening bank accounts, learning Hebrew, finding jobs, and more. Through the film, already-established immigrants provide insights to help newcomers integrate into Israeli society.
