An assortment of clips from the farewell ceremony held in honor of retiring Sports Authority director, Yariv Oren, who started out as a teenage record-breaking javelin thrower and shot putter, and who would eventually serve as director of the Sports Authority for 25 years. The ceremony, a gathering of Israeli sports officials, was held at the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame at Wingate Institute, where Oren can be seen greeting guests outside the venue as they arrive. The ceremony features speeches made by Oren’s friends and colleagues, many of whom worked alongside him at the Israeli Athletics Association and at the Sports Authority; Oren is presented as a man who stood at the forefront of Israeli sports and sought to optimize Israeli sports budgeting. After nine of his ten grandchildren read heartfelt limericks about him, a slideshow is shown of Oren’s old family pictures, of his wife Aviva and of their children; this slideshow also includes photos of Yariv Oren’s cousins, the Avrutsky family, early trailblazers of the Israeli sports industry who also happened to be one of the first families to settle the city of Kefar Saba. Segments of Oren’s friends, relatives and colleagues sharing stories about him and applauding his leadership skills are interspersed with numbers by youth dance companies, befitting the spirit of athletic excellence which had become emblematic of Oren’s career.
