A documentary film produced by the Israel Film Service explores the life of actor Muhammad Bakri. The film follows Bakri for two years after the signing of the Oslo Accords. In an open and honest dialogue with the director, he reveals the complex questions of identity he faces as an Arab actor living in Israel. Between rehearsals at the “Habima” theatre and a photo shoot in a refugee camp in Jericho, Bakri feels he is always ‘neither here nor there.’ Alongside his acting career, the film presents Bakri’s unique relationship with his eldest son, Saleh, who decided to leave Israel’s complex reality and immigrate to London to start a new life there. The film includes moments from the plays ‘The Pessoptimist’ and ‘Death and the Maiden,’ alongside various interviews with cultural and theater figures, including director Rashid Mashrawi and actor Yusuf Abu Warda.
